Okay, I admit I jumped back into this blog (and my other on Blogger, City of Destiny) for the challenge to post every day in November and I kinda don't have much the day after Election Day unless I wanted to look at pro athletes' tweets about election results (NO). Or of course I could post from my vast archives of photos, which I don't have time to search right now. So I googled "presidential bobbleheads hockey" and learned besides the Milwaukee and Rockford ones I mentioned the other day, at least two other AHL teams did them this year.
Peoria Rivermen
And Oklahoma City Barons, but there's no photo and I didn't find much more on the site. (Sure, if I look through everything I might...)
It's not just a hockey thing, although I find the idea of hockey player politician bobbleheads the most delightful. The Quad Cities River Bandits (Cardinals affiliate when this piece was written) did one this year too. Alas, not at the game of theirs I was able to attend this year.

Topical hockey bobbleheads
I have nothing to say about the latest NHL news of another major cancellation (except damn, I couldn't have gone to the Winter Classic, but I could have taken a Megabus or something to Ann Arbor and milled around and taken photos while it was going on, at least!) so here's a bit of AHL. And here is why I like minor league sports, regardless of what's going with major leagues...silly stuff like this:
Wow. I knew about the Milwaukee Admirals giveaway and seriously considered going--I'd love to have both bobbleheads, but would be fine with just getting the Obama one to go with the president I already have (Washington), from an Ads game earlier this year. I found out about the Rockford IceHogs giveaway too late to be able to make plans. Results are in are in from Milwaukee.
And an odd bit on Facebook hours before the game. I see the dig at Chicago, I see it!

it's the one-year anniversary of my first Hawks game at United Center
and I need to write a real photo-filled writeup of that soon, but I'm not sure when due to THE BIG EAST COAST HOCKEY TRIP I'm going on this week. (sorry about the shouting.) first I'll probably write the "first 365 days following the Blackhawks" piece I thought of yesterday, on day 365, when I was at my first Blackhawks game of 2010, on Marian Hossa bobblehead night. here it is:

Merry Christmas from K of C & friends
uh, I don't know what this is either, but I wanted to put my first bobblehead to decorative use (and one of my pink trees--yes, I have more than one--from Borders). dammit, Kaner!
Happy Holidays from me! I'd say a mushy thanks to my readers but I did that on Thanksgiving and will write something like that for New Year's too. there's a lot of fun holiday-related stuff on the sports blogs I read, but I'll just highlight the folks who took the time to write hockey-themed versions of "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (a.k.a. "The Night Before Christmas"--your pedantic blogger here gives bonus points for those who riffed on the proper title):
HOCKEENIGHT Gets a Visit From St. Nick
this one's my favorite, because, well, it's Blackhawks, so I feel closest to it (and get all the jokes)
Pension Plan Puppets has A Visit from Saint Burke
'Twas the Night Before Christmas from a reader at The Pensblog
and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas at Hockey Blog in Canada, where the focus is on the World Junior Championships, which start on Boxing Day (or as it's known to Americans, "wait, why do they call it Boxing Day again?")
did I miss any? well, this post on Puck Daddy links to Avalanche and Predators versions too, plus a reader contributes a poem in the first comment. I don't think I saw a Bruins version, and I don't feel I know the team well enough yet to write one (though I've already rhymed "style and class" with "put a guy through the glass"...).

what a night (Hawks vs. Lightning)
it's late, I have to do some stuff to iPhoto before it'll let me upload my big batch of photos from Sunday's game, I've already had an hourlong late-night phone call with the one friend I really talk to (in non-Internet ways) about hockey (and who lives across the country. arrghh, need a Chicagoan), so I wasn't gonna try to do a game recap tonight but when I do it'll be...spirited. (will this be before or after I write about the Penguins game? shut up!) so for now, the first highlight of the game, the Patrick Kane bobblehead I got when I showed up:
a proud addition to the collection of stupid stuff I have on my computer. (yes, the computer I'm blogging from right now! where the magic happens!) except I find bobbleheads kind of creepy so I'll probably move it soon. I've never gotten a baseball bobblehead despite going to MLB ballparks in 14 different cities. hell, I've gotten more Blackhawks giveaways in two months of games than two years of baseball games.
